The diamond beach – located in Nusa Penida – is one of the most beautiful beaches around the world. Over the years, this beach was untouched. Recently, It became accessible after the stairs to the beach were finished. If you plan to visit Bali, you have to include visiting this beach to your to do in Bali list. It is the most wonderful beach on the eastern tip of Nusa Penida. Its blue water and white sand make it one of the highlights of Penida Island.
While having a view from the top of the diamond beach, The silky blue water, limestones a stunning white beach, and palm trees, create an urge in you to go downstairs and be a part of this amazing paradise. Undoubtedly, this beach deserves making it a priority when you go to Bali.

Visiting Diamond Beach
Before 2018, visiting Diamond Beach was not possible yet. Now, after carving out new stairs on the limestone, you can get down to the beach easily.
An advice that you will probably hear from native people when you go there is to only visit Diamond beach during low tide. The waves, in this side of the island, may become very rough and dangerous. You have to be careful.
Can you swim in diamond beach
Unfortunately, This beach is not for swimming. As I mentioned before, the waves in this part of the island is very rough and they may contain rocks and coral. Swimming here may be painful and dangerous. Moreover, the place is newly discovered, water current is still unknown. Thus, be careful and think twice before you decide to jump into water.
Walking down to the beach is possible now and it is not difficult to do. A 20 minute walk down stairs will get you there. In total, 2 hours is the period of time that you need for the whole trip.
Getting to diamond beach
You can easily reach to Diamond beach. If you go to a Nusa Penida Trip, you can reach it by motorbike or car. We recommend that you take one of the trips that are organized from places near to Diamon Beach.
How to get to Nusa penida
From Bali, you can easily get to Nusa Penida. A 30 – 40 minute on a ferry will take you there – depending on how the sea is. The ferry leaves from Bali 4 times a day – 8 AM, 9 AM, 10:30 AM 16 PM, and 17 PM.
Be sure that you wear removable shoes where you want to take this trip. At Nusa Penida, there is no pier. You will walk to get on and off the boat through the water.
Getting around Nusa Penida
Getting to Nusa Penida by motorbike is doable – and it is amazing. But, we do recommend that you go there by car – especially if you are planning to spend the night there. Going by car will allow you to take more luggage with you. Moreover, you are safer in the car. The road doesn’t fit two cars and driving accidents with motorbikes happen every day.
Going by Car
You can explore the island comfortably by car. You either go back to Bali by night or you spend the night in Nusa Penida.
Going By Motorbike
As I said before, going by motorbike is the most beautiful. If you plan to go there by motorbike, you have to be a very experienced driver. Otherwise, you better go by car. Renting a motorbike is your way to get a bike there. To rent one, you can check at the harbor. The prices are not very expensive – you can rent a motorbike starting at 60 IDR (4 dollars) a day.
Nusa Penida island is getting more popular around the world. The country is giving it much way more attention. Roads are being made and tourists constructions are built. If you plan to visit Bali, don’t miss the opportunity to get to Nusa Penida and visit Diamond Beach. It’s worth it!
